Natalie Portman’s “Jane Got a Gun” turns soap opera–director and co-star Jude Law bail

Lynne Ramsay was going to follow up her grim, acclaimed “We Need to Talk About Kevin” by teaming with Natalie Portman for the indie drama “Jane Got a Gun.”

Funny thing about that, though. Ramsay didn’t show up. On the first day of shooting.

No word on creative differences or what have you. It just didn’t happen.

So the producers, with cast and crew and locations ready and the meter running, went director shopping. FAST.

Gavin O’Connor, who did “Warrior” and “Miracle” (mixed martial arts, hockey), “rode to the rescue,” according to

Cold feet, personal issues, creative differences, what have you. It happens. Usually not on the first day of shooting, but it happens.

And as a result, co-star Jude Law has bailed out of the picture. This one is falling apart.
