Interesting experiment, but casting younger versions of these screen icons isn’t impossible and is probably still the best way to do a movie like this. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/irishman-martin-scorsese-netflix-release-date-robert-de-niro-al-pacino-a8936116.html?amp

This movie is a disaster. They’re out of money. Netflix is in panic mode. Marty trashing his movie before its released? Not smart and arrogant. They cut post productions budget off. Marty Scorsese pushed for CGI when told it would not work. Now he’s blaming CGI. He was told it hasn’t progressed enough technically. The budget it at 250 million not 150 million. Now they’re using a 100 percent soundtrack instead of a film score. Robbie Robertson has written riffs instead of a composer writing an original score that would’ve taken to the next level. I worked on this movie in pre and post. The poster will be drawn in crayon. It has been cut off from the endless cash cow flow that is Netflix. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets shelved. I am frustrated for all of us who put our hearts into this movie. If they fix this mess, it will be a miracle.
Netflix is the quintessential “rube” the Hollywood hustlers saw coming. Startup studios throw a lot of money at people and projects to get to the front of the line. All you said may be true, and watch them hype that thing into Oscar nominations this fall. Worked for Cuaron.
