We first noticed the Canadian Sarah Polley as an actress in indie films such “The Secret Life of Words” and “My Life Without Me.” Yeah, she was in “Dawn of the Dead” and “Splice,” but indie films have been where she’s made her mark.
Now, we’re noticing her more for her writing and directing. “Away From Her” had Oscar nominations, “Take This Waltz” lured Seth Rogen into co-starring. And now, “Stories We Tell” is an inventive, surprising documentary about her research into the mother she never really knew.
She’s a much bigger deal north of the border, where her every move and movie is scrutinized. But she’s worth taking note of down here, as well. Questions for Sarah? Post them as comments, and thanks for the help.
