I’m a big Ray Winstone fan, going back to “Sexy Beast,” on through “The Departed” and “Beowulf,” where he was computer animated into the first great epic in Olde English. That was the last time I talked with him. I’m seeing “The Sweeney,” based on an influential 1970s British TV series about badly flawed cops from a “flying squad” who have an ends justifies the means approach.
And I’ve seen the “Top Gear” episode where Ray was trapped in a car as the Gearheads tried to contrive car stunts that would meet the movie makers’ needs in the film.
