I have interviewed a couple of members of the Hemingway clan over the years, and while they were never reluctant to talk about “the family curse,” that doesn’t appear to have saved many of them from falling into it — depression, and suicide — themselves.
This Oprah-produced film by two-time Oscar winning documentarian Barbara Kopple (“Harlan County, USA,” “Shut Up & Sing,” “Wild Man Blues”) comes off, in its trailer, as a Mariel Hemingway advert — look how together, fit, etc. I am now. Very Oprah-TV doc, upbeat and celebratory. But we’ll see.
