I first noticed her as the bartender/cynical mother confessor to Paul Newman in the comedy “Nobody’s Fool.”
And Margo Martindale’s been making a big impression ever since. Like her fellow Actor’s Theatre of Louisville pal KAthy Bates, Martindale has found plenty of work in a business that doesn’t have much use for women who couldn’t make it as cover girls.
She plays Meryl Streep’s sharp-tongued sister in the film of “August: Osage County,” a natural bit of casting. The character’s from Oklahoma, Margo’s from Texas.
