“Lincoln” pulled in the most nominations — 12. “Life of Pi,” without an actor on the list, had 11.

“Silver Linings Playbook” had nominations in every acting category.

But “Beasts of the Southern Wild (my review is here),” a no-budget magical realist drama set in the bayou, copped four major Oscar nominations on Thursday — best actress, director, picture among them.

Best Picture — “Beasts,” “Lincoln,” “Les Miserables,” “Django Unchained,” Silver Linings Playbook,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Life of Pi,” “Amour,” and “Argo.”

Nine films in all. They could have gone for 10.

A good field. No “Impossible,” no “Flight,” no “The Master.” Pity. Others have wondered why “Moonrise Kingdom” was left out. Not me. Others.

Best actress — Naomi Watts in “The Impossible,” “Jessica Chastain in “Zero Dark Thirty”, “Jennifer Lawrence in “Silver Linings,” Emmauelle Riva from “Amour” (85, the oldest nominee ever) and Miss Wallis from “Beasts” (9,. the youngest nominee ever).

Spielberg, Ang Lee, Haneke (“Amoour”), Russell (Silver Linings”) and Behn Zeitlin from “Beasts” copped best director nominations.

No Quentin (whew), no Zemeckis (“Flight”), no Affleck, no Anderson — a lot of big names and big movies left out there. No Hooper?

Nothing major for “Anna Karenina.” A couple of costume/production design nods. Just a big best song nod for “Skyfall.”

All the supporting actors — Tommy Lee Jones, P.S. Hoffman, Alan Arkin, Christoph Waltz — previous Oscar winners.

“Silver Linings” landed nominations in all four acting categories, thanks to Jacki Weaver’s nabbing best supporting actress honors. DeNiro, Cooper and Lawrence also earned nominations.

Seth MacFarlane gave us an easy-going, mildly-edgy taste of what his Oscar hosting night will be like — irreverent (A Hitler joke about “Amour,” a lovely shot at Harvey Weinstein and actresses).
