A healthier than expected Saturday pushed Warners’ comic book adaptation “Black Adam” to the edges of blockbuster territory. It had been looking like a “disappointing” $60 million weekend on Friday, with the $70-73 projected well beyond reach. But Dwayne Johnson delivered and the fans showed up, rallying this $195 million plotless ego trip over $67 million.

“Ticket to Paradise” proved a healthy bit of counter programming, pulling in $16.3 from an older less fanboyish crowd.
“Halloween Ends” fell off a disastrous 80% on its second weekend, tumbling behind “Smile,” which is still clearing $8 million a weekend ($8.3) while David Gordon Green’s reviled finale to his trilogy may have hit $8 after clearing $40 when it premiered.
