“Beasts of the Southern Wild” returns to theaters for an Oscar push

Imaget’s coming back, going into a lot more theaters. And that means a lot of confused filmgoers, or a lot more than there were when “Beasts of the Southern Wild” was a limited release/film festival sort of movie, sought out by people looking for a challenge, ready to embrace its poetic nature.

But hand it to the studio. They’ve got  best script/best director and best picture nominations, and they’re going to drag this thing into big profits because of it. Good on’em. It’s earned over $11 million, and they could easily double that by Oscar night.

Seeing it? Here’s my review, from last year.

And while we’re at it, here’s my interview with the filmmaker, explaining the magic he made out there in the bayou, and how he did it.

But HERE is the link you really need for this movie, this weekend. There, or Fandango. You haven’t seen it. You know you need to.
